The Cost of Greed

In 1998, Grandrise Plant foreman Gordon Hale hired villagers at an 18‑yuan daily wage. Lured by a 23‑yuan offer, Frank Rudd and others left for an exploitative factory that seized IDs and withheld pay. Grateful for villagers’ support for his college, Hale helped reclaim their wages and oust the corrupt foreman. Regretful, the workers learned their lesson. Prioritizing principles over pay, he grew Grandrise Plant, embodying integrity and responsibility.
